Proton Pass Pricing 2026: Free, Plus, Family and Business

Proton Pass pricing in 2026: Free at $0, Pass Plus $35.88 a year, Pass Family $59.88 for six people, business plans from $1.99 per user a month.

Proton Pass Pricing 2026: Free, Plus, Family and Business

Proton Pass costs $0 on its free plan. Pass Plus is $2.99 a month on a 12-month plan, billed $35.88 a year, or $4.99 if you pay month to month. Pass Family covers six people on one yearly plan, and business plans start at $1.99 per user a month with a three-user minimum. All prices are US dollars, read on Proton's pricing pages on October 19, 2026.

The free plan is the most generous part of the lineup, and monthly billing the least: on Plus it costs two thirds more than the yearly plan, so anyone staying a year should prepay. The real decision for most buyers is whether the extras in Plus, mostly the built-in authenticator and unlimited email aliases, are worth a yearly fee that sits above Bitwarden's.

The "per month" figure on the yearly plans is the annual charge divided by 12, not a monthly bill. Proton charges the whole year up front, and the pricing page frames the yearly rates as discounts: 40% off on Plus, 29% on Family and 23% on Unlimited. Business prices carry the line "Taxes may apply."

Is the free plan enough?

For a lot of people, yes. Proton Free stores unlimited logins, notes and credit cards, syncs across unlimited devices, and runs in the browser, mobile and desktop apps. It supports passkeys on all devices, generates passwords and warns you about weak or reused ones.

The limits are specific. Free gives you 10 hide-my-email aliases, two vaults, and vault sharing with two other people. It leaves out the integrated 2FA authenticator, item-by-item sharing, file attachments, item history, Dark Web Monitoring, Emergency Access and Proton Sentinel, the high-security account program. If none of those matter to you, Free is a complete password manager with no device cap, and there is no reason to pay.

Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, tracks 37 password managers as of October 19, 2026, and 59% of them are free, freemium or open source. A free tier is common in this category, so the question is what each one withholds. Our best free password managers guide lines up those limits, and the Proton Pass profile on Toolradar tracks the plan data.

How much does Pass Plus cost?

Buy Pass Plus on the 12-month plan if you buy it at all. Paying month to month costs $24 more over a year for the same features.

What the fee buys is a list of named features rather than "more security." Plus adds unlimited hide-my-email aliases, the built-in 2FA authenticator, vault and link sharing, Dark Web Monitoring, file attachments, Emergency Access and Proton Sentinel. Vaults rise from 2 to 50, vault sharing from 2 people to 10, and storage from 1 GB to 10 GB. Alias power users also get custom domains, extra mailboxes, a catch-all domain and the ability to start an email from an alias, plus the command line tool.

The aliases are the feature to weigh first. They let you give every site a different forwarding address, which limits spam and makes a leaked address easy to trace. If you already pay for an alias service, Plus can replace it. If you never use aliases and keep your 2FA codes in a separate app, the free plan covers most of what Plus does.

Pass Family: six accounts for one yearly fee

Pass Family costs $59.88 a year and includes six Pass Plus accounts plus an admin panel for the household. On monthly billing it is $6.99 a month, or $83.88 over 12 months.

The per-person math favors the family plan early. Six people on one yearly plan pay $9.98 each. Two people on separate Pass Plus subscriptions would pay $71.76 together, which is $11.88 more than Pass Family. From the second person on, Pass Family is the cheaper way to give a household Plus features. Storage on the family plan is 50 GB, and each account keeps its own 50 vaults.

There is a ceiling: the plan lists six users and prints no price for a seventh. A bigger household needs a second subscription. For a wider comparison of family plans, see our guide to the cheapest password manager for families.

Proton Unlimited: when the bundle is worth it

Proton Unlimited costs $119.88 a year, or $12.99 a month month to month. It includes everything in Pass Plus plus Proton Mail, Proton Calendar, Proton VPN and Proton Drive, with 500 GB of storage, for one user.

The step up from Plus is $84 a year on yearly billing. That is the price of adding encrypted email, a VPN and cloud storage to a password manager you already pay for. If you would otherwise buy a VPN or an email plan separately, the bundle is worth pricing against them; our Proton VPN review and Proton Mail review cover what each one does on its own. If you only want a password manager, Unlimited is the wrong plan.

Business plans: Essentials and Professional

Pass Essentials is the cheapest business plan, billed $23.88 per user a year, and it fits small teams only: it needs at least three users and stops at 30. It covers shared vaults, item and link sharing, the built-in authenticator, Dark Web Monitoring, a password health check, passkeys and unlimited aliases.

Pass Professional costs $4.49 per user a month on yearly billing and also starts at three users, but with no upper cap, so it is the plan a growing company lands on. It adds SSO and SCIM provisioning, detailed activity logs, enterprise policies, Proton Sentinel, file attachments, SIEM integration, group sharing and an SSH agent. Both plans offer a 14-day free trial.

Seats Pass Essentials per year Pass Professional per year Extra for Professional
3 (minimum) $71.64 $161.64 $90
10 $238.80 $538.80 $300
30 $716.40 $1,616.40 $900
50 Not available (30-user cap) $2,694 n/a

Each total is the yearly per-user charge times the seat count, before tax. The jump to Professional is $30 per user a year. That buys SSO, SCIM and audit-grade logs, so a team whose security policy requires single sign-on starts at Professional whatever its size. Our password manager pricing index puts these totals beside 1Password, Bitwarden, RoboForm and Enpass at 10, 25 and 50 seats, and finds Pass Essentials tied for the lowest yearly price at every seat count it covers.

Two larger plans sit above Professional. VPN and Pass Professional lists $10.99 per user a month and adds Proton VPN's business features. Workspace Standard, at $12.99 per user a month billed $155.88 a year, bundles every Proton business product with 1 TB of storage per user. Phone support starts at six users on all four plans, and a dedicated account manager comes with Professional and above for teams of 20 or more.

How Proton Pass compares on price

On yearly billing, Proton Pass sits between Bitwarden and 1Password for individuals and families. All three prices below were read on each vendor's page on October 19, 2026.

Plan Proton Pass Bitwarden 1Password
One person, paid $35.88 a year (Pass Plus) $19.80 a year (Premium) $3.99/mo billed yearly; $2.99 in year one for new customers
Family $59.88 a year, 6 users $47.88 a year, 6 users $5.99/mo billed yearly, 5 users; $4.49 in year one
Cheapest team plan $1.99 per user/mo, 3-user minimum $4 per user/mo (Teams) See our 1Password pricing page

Bitwarden is the cheaper paid plan for one person and for a family of six, by $16.08 and $12 a year. Proton's case rests on what Plus bundles for that price: unlimited hide-my-email aliases with custom domains, and Dark Web Monitoring on every paid tier. For teams the order flips: Pass Essentials costs half of Bitwarden Teams per seat, though Bitwarden Teams lists event logs, directory sync and SCIM provisioning, which Proton keeps for Professional. Full breakdowns sit in our Bitwarden pricing and 1Password pricing guides.

What the price leaves out

  • Monthly billing is the expensive route. Pass Plus costs $24 more over a year on monthly billing, and Unlimited $36 more.
  • Renewal follows the current list price. Proton's terms say a plan renews automatically for the same term, and if the price has changed you pay the price valid at renewal.
  • Refunds are once per user. The terms allow a full refund if you cancel within 30 days of the first purchase, and only once. Payments in cash or by bank transfer are not refundable.
  • Taxes. Business plans state that taxes may apply, so add your local rate to the seat math above.
  • Seat limits. Essentials stops at 30 users and every business plan needs at least three. Pass Family stops at six people.
  • Enterprise has no public price. Proton sends large deployments to sales for a custom plan.

Which Proton Pass plan to buy

  • One person replacing a VPN and an email service too: Proton Unlimited.
  • A team of 3 to 30 without an SSO requirement: Pass Essentials.
  • A team that needs SSO, SCIM or audit logs: Pass Professional.
