Bitwarden Pricing 2026: Every Plan and What It Costs
Bitwarden pricing in 2026: Premium $19.80 a year, Families $47.88 for six people, Teams $4 and Enterprise $6 per user a month, all in USD.
Bitwarden costs $0 for one person on its free plan. Premium is $19.80 a year, or $1.65 a month billed annually, and Families is $47.88 a year for up to six people. Teams is $4 per user a month and Enterprise $6, both billed annually. All prices are US dollars before tax, verified on Bitwarden's pricing page in October 2026.
Every price in this guide comes from that page. Billing rules and sponsorship terms come from Bitwarden's help center, read the same day. Each plan is priced at its printed rate, and promotions, coupons and third-party estimates are left out.
Bitwarden plans and prices at a glance
| Plan | Who it fits | Printed price (USD) | Billing | Trial or sign-up button |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | One person, or a two-person shared organization | $0, labelled "always free" | None | Create Free Account |
| Premium | One person who wants a built-in authenticator, file attachments and health reports | $1.65/mo, billed annually at $19.80 | Annual only | Create Premium Account, no trial button |
| Families | Up to six people in one household | $3.99/mo for up to 6 users, billed annually at $47.88 | Annual only | Start Free Families Trial |
| Teams | Companies that need shared vaults, event logs and directory sync | $4 per user/mo, billed annually | Annual rate printed | Start Free Trial |
| Enterprise | Companies that need SSO, enterprise policies or self-hosting | $6 per user/mo, billed annually | Annual rate printed | Start Free Trial |
Premium is the only individual paid plan on the page. Its $1.65 monthly figure is arithmetic rather than a bill. The help center says Premium subscriptions are billed annually, so the charge is one payment a year, and that is the number to budget.
Teams and Enterprise show a per-user rate that applies when you pay annually. The help center says Teams can also be billed monthly, but the pricing page prints no monthly figure, so every business total below uses the annual rate.
One person: free, or Premium for a year
The free plan is enough for many solo users. It gives one account unlimited passwords and devices across the browser, mobile and desktop apps, plus a free organization for two people with two collections. The pricing page labels the plan "always free," and a budget can rely on that label.
Premium adds five things to the free vault. It includes the integrated authenticator for six-digit TOTP codes, 5 GB of encrypted file attachments, emergency access (contacts you name can request your vault in an emergency), vault health reports that flag weak, reused or exposed passwords, and priority support. It does not add sharing, because sharing with one other person already works through the free organization.
The decision is simple arithmetic. If you store only logins, the annual charge buys the authenticator, attachments, emergency access and reports, and only you can judge whether those are worth a year's fee. If you keep scanned documents in the vault, the storage is the reason to pay.
Older guides still quote a $10 Premium price. The vendor page prints today's rate, so treat any $10 figure you find elsewhere as out of date.
Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, evaluated 37 password managers for its October 2026 ranking. Two of its 10 top picks have a free plan, LastPass and Bitwarden. The Bitwarden profile is on Toolradar.
A household of up to six: Families
Families gives six people six Premium accounts, unlimited sharing and unlimited collections. Every person signs in with a separate account, so the household does not share one login.
At $47.88 a year, Families works out to $7.98 per person. Six separate Premium accounts would cost $118.80, so the family plan saves $70.92 a year for a household of six.
The break-even comes sooner than six people. Two people on Premium pay $39.60, which is $8.28 less than Families. Three people on Premium pay $59.40, which is $11.52 more. From the third person on, Families is the cheaper plan, and a household of three to six should not buy individual accounts.
Families stops at six people. The pricing page prints no price for a seventh seat, so a larger household needs a second subscription and a second bill.
Teams and Enterprise: $4 and $6 per user a month
Teams is the cheapest business plan on the page. At $4 per user per month billed annually, it shares credentials securely, keeps event logs of activity, syncs your existing directory and automates provisioning with SCIM. What it leaves out matters as much. There is no passwordless SSO, no granular access control, no enterprise policies and no self-hosting.
Enterprise costs $6 per user per month billed annually. It adds passwordless SSO, granular access control, enterprise policies, the option to self-host and Access Intelligence risk remediation, which the page marks as new. The Teams list does not include self-hosting, so a company that wants to run Bitwarden on its own servers is pricing Enterprise from the start.
| Seats | Teams per year | Enterprise per year | Enterprise premium over Teams |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | $480 ($40 a month) | $720 ($60 a month) | $240 |
| 25 | $1,200 ($100 a month) | $1,800 ($150 a month) | $600 |
| 50 | $2,400 ($200 a month) | $3,600 ($300 a month) | $1,200 |
The arithmetic is the per-user rate times the seat count times 12. Teams at 10 seats is $4 x 10 x 12, which is $480. Enterprise at the same count is $6 x 10 x 12, which is $720.
Enterprise costs $2 more per user per month, or $24 per user per year. That difference buys SSO, policies, granular access control and self-hosting. At 25 seats it is worth $600 a year, and at 50 seats $1,200. If your team needs none of those four, Teams is the cheaper plan at every seat count on this page.
The free Families plan for Enterprise employees
Enterprise also lists a "Free Families plan for all users," and that line is easy to misread as a public free plan. It is an employer benefit. The help center says an active member of an Enterprise organization can claim a Families plan at no cost for as long as they stay a member. The employee uses a Bitwarden account kept separate from the work account, in the same region as the sponsoring organization. The plan covers up to six people with 5 GB of storage, and extra storage is the only thing the employee pays for. The employer can switch the sponsorship off with a policy. The Teams list does not include it.
What the price leaves out
- Tax. Bitwarden states that its prices exclude taxes, so add your local rate to every total before you set a budget.
- Extra storage. Premium and Families include 5 GB of attachments. The pricing page says more storage costs "an additional fee" but does not print that fee.
- Monthly billing. Premium and Families are billed annually, according to the help center. Teams can be billed monthly, but the pricing page prints no monthly rate for it.
- Seat caps. Families stops at six people, and the page prints no price for a seventh seat.
- Secrets Manager. The pricing page lists Secrets Manager as a separate product. This guide does not price it, so a CI/CD or infrastructure budget needs its own quote.
- Trial length. Families, Teams and Enterprise each carry a free trial button. The only trial length printed is "Start Free 14 Day Trial" in the business banner, and the page does not repeat it beside each plan.
- Large rollouts. The page sends large organizations to sales for a tailored plan, so treat the per-seat math here as a starting point for a big purchase.
Which plan to buy
- One person, logins only: Free.
- One person who wants TOTP codes or attachments: Premium, one account on one annual fee.
- Two people: Two Premium accounts cost $8.28 less than Families.
- Three to six people in one household: Families, which beats separate Premium accounts from the third person on.
- A company that needs shared vaults and logs but not SSO: Teams, the cheapest business plan on this page.
- A company that needs SSO, policies or self-hosting: Enterprise, at $6 per user per month.
- An employee of an Enterprise customer: Ask whether your employer sponsors a Families plan before you pay for one.

Frequently asked questions
Is Bitwarden free?
Yes, for one person. The free plan gives unlimited passwords and devices at $0, and a free organization shares with one other person. Paid plans add the authenticator, attachments and business controls, so the free plan stops being enough once you need one of those.
How much does Bitwarden Premium cost?
It costs $19.80 a year, billed annually, which the page shows as $1.65 a month. That covers one account with 5 GB of attachments. Taxes are extra.
What does a family of six pay for Bitwarden?
The Families plan costs $7.98 per person a year, because one plan covers all six. Six separate Premium accounts would cost $118.80 a year, so the family plan is the cheaper route for any household of three or more.
Does the free plan cover a family?
No. The free plan is one account, and the free organization covers two people with two collections. A household that wants a separate vault for each person under one paid subscription needs the Families plan.
Does Bitwarden Teams have monthly billing?
The help center says Teams can be billed annually or monthly. The pricing page prints only the annual per-user rate, so ask Bitwarden for the monthly rate before you budget that option.
Are Bitwarden prices shown with tax?
No. The pricing page says the prices are in US dollars, based on an annual subscription, and that taxes are not included.
