Best Password Managers for MSPs in 2026

Eight options for an MSP, split by whether the seat is a client employee or a technician, with the 100-user bill where a rate is printed.

TL;DR

1Password MSP Edition is the password manager an MSP can quote in 2026 before a sales call. The published rate is $5 per user a month, billed in arrears, with no seat minimum, and a technician login costs the same.

Bitwarden's public Teams list is lower when the client does not need SSO, so it fits a company that will not use passwordless sign-in, and Enterprise adds SSO plus self-hosting. Keeper prints a business list and keeps the MSP unit off the MSP page, so the slide is not the invoice. NordPass runs a multi-tenant panel and prices the public plans in euros, which fits a book you already bill in euros.

Hudu and IT Glue charge for the technician who stores firewall and domain passwords, not for every client employee, so quoting them for every employee comes up short. Passportal is built for that technician job and publishes no list price, so it waits on a quote.

  • Updated: October 22, 2026
  • Top pick: 1Password MSP Edition (best for: MSPs that need a printed per-user rate and one console for every client)
  • Top pick price as of October 22, 2026: 1Password MSP Edition: $5/user/mo, billed monthly in arrears. No seat minimum. Direct Business is $8.99/user/mo, billed yearly.
  • 8 tools compared: 1Password MSP Edition, Bitwarden, Keeper, NordPass, Devolutions, Hudu, IT Glue, N-able Passportal
  • Bitwarden (best for: MSPs that want a free provider portal and will read SSO as the Enterprise list): Teams $4/user/mo, Enterprise $6/user/mo, billed annually. No portal fee.
  • Keeper (best for: MSPs that want usage billing in arrears and will take the unit from sales): Business $4/user/mo, Enterprise $6, Starter $2, all billed annually. KeeperMSP unit is not printed.
  • NordPass (best for: MSPs that will bill from the euro plan list and want unpaid internal NFR seats): Business €3.99/user/mo on the 1-year term, 5-user minimum. No separate MSP card.

An MSP that bills a client employee and a technician on the same meter will lose the margin on one of them. 1Password's MSP rate is the employee seat you can put on a proposal today, because the unit, the arrears billing, and the lack of a minimum are written down. Copy the public business card and you quote a yearly contract this agreement does not charge.

Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, has evaluated 37 password managers as of 17 October 2026, on its password manager ranking. This page keeps the eight an MSP actually deploys, either as a client vault or as the technician vault beside the PSA. Profiles for the client-facing products are on 1Password, Bitwarden, and Keeper.

A company buying a vault for its own staff, with no MSP bill to reconcile, should read best password managers. Household plans are in best password managers for families, and personal free tiers are in best free password managers. The head-to-head clients already ask about is 1Password vs Bitwarden.

Top Pick

1Password MSP Edition

A published MSP unit, no minimum, and Business features, billed for the seats you used.

Pricing
$5/user/mo, billed monthly in arrears. No seat minimum. Direct Business is $8.99/user/mo, billed yearly.

Best for: MSPs that need a printed per-user rate and one console for every client

Pros

  • Each managed client user and each internal technician login is the same unit, with no license minimum, so a one-user client is a valid start.
  • One console opens each client tenant, billing is one invoice in arrears, and the product deploys 1Password Business, which is the plan with identity-provider integrations and Watchtower.

Cons

  • You can provision Business only, so Teams, Families, and Individual are not in the MSP product, and Extended Access Management is not available to MSPs, which sends those buyers to a separate contract.
  • The direct Business list is higher than the MSP unit and is billed yearly, so a proposal that copies the public business card overstates what the MSP agreement charges.
2 Bitwarden logo

Bitwarden

A free provider portal over public Teams and Enterprise lists, with the partner rate on the invoice.

Pricing
Teams $4/user/mo, Enterprise $6/user/mo, billed annually. No portal fee.

Best for: MSPs that want a free provider portal and will read SSO as the Enterprise list

Pros

  • The Provider Portal has no startup fee and no monthly portal fee, and you set a Teams floor and an Enterprise floor that you are billed for every month.
  • Enterprise is the plan with passwordless SSO, enterprise policies, self-hosting at no extra subscription charge, and a free Families plan for users. Teams includes directory sync and SCIM without that SSO.

Cons

  • The business page shows the annual list, not the partner discount. Tiered MSP incentives exist, and the rate you pay is on the provider invoice.
  • Client organizations do not add seats on their own when they fill up, and the Provider Portal cannot manage a self-hosted organization, so self-hosting and the MSP console do not combine.
3 Keeper logo

Keeper

A business list you can read, and an MSP console whose unit stays off the public page.

Pricing
Business $4/user/mo, Enterprise $6, Starter $2, all billed annually. KeeperMSP unit is not printed.

Best for: MSPs that want usage billing in arrears and will take the unit from sales

Pros

  • Business includes shared team folders, delegated admin, and a free Family plan for up to five people per user. Enterprise adds SCIM, directory sync, SSO, and advanced MFA.
  • KeeperMSP bills the average of each day's licenses in arrears, with no long-term seat commitment, and an admin can cap how many licenses a managed company allocates.

Cons

  • The MSP page does not print the unit, so the business list is the number you can show, not the number the MSP agreement will charge.
  • Starter only covers 5 to 10 users, so it is the wrong row once a client is a real tenant. A distributor invoice can omit prices entirely, which means the client-facing PDF will not reconcile to the business card.
4 NordPass logo

NordPass

A multi-tenant MSP panel over Business and Enterprise, on the public euro list.

Pricing
Business €3.99/user/mo on the 1-year term, 5-user minimum. No separate MSP card.

Best for: MSPs that will bill from the euro plan list and want unpaid internal NFR seats

Pros

  • The MSP panel is multi-tenant, clients get a 14-day trial, and NFR seats for the MSP's own staff are on the usage report and are not billed until you pass the allocation.
  • MSPs sell Business or Enterprise, not the 10-user Teams pack, so a Teams quote cannot be filled from the panel. Business on the 1-year term includes breach monitoring and folder sharing, and Enterprise adds Entra ID, Okta, and ADFS SSO.

Cons

  • A seat that is active, pending, or suspended counts for the whole month, so an unaccepted invite still bills.
  • Moving a client up a tier mid-month bills the higher tier for that entire month. Teams pricing on the public page is not the plan the MSP panel sells.
5 Devolutions logo

Devolutions

The lowest published USD staff vault here, sold per named user inside one subscription.

Pricing
Workforce password management $3/user/mo, billed annually. Remote desktop management is $30/user/mo.

Best for: A single organization that wants a named-user vault and will not need a client console

Pros

  • Workforce password management includes unlimited credentials, role-based access, enforced MFA, sharing, and activity logs, at the package price rather than a per-feature add-on.
  • The remote desktop package includes the workforce features plus the connection manager technicians actually live in, so you do not buy a second vault for that job.

Cons

  • The pricing page sells one subscription of named users. It does not describe an MSP console that bills many client companies on one agreement.
  • A technician who needs remote connections is on the remote desktop package, not the workforce package, and licenses are named users rather than concurrent sessions, so sharing a login does not shrink the bill.
6 Hudu logo

Hudu

A documentation platform whose password vault is priced per technician, with free portal users.

Pricing
$30/user/mo, or $27/user/mo billed annually. No user minimum and no setup fee.

Best for: MSPs that keep client admin passwords in the same system as the documentation

Pros

  • The seat includes the password vault, unlimited companies, a browser extension, and Hudu Bridge for multi-account access, at the same price if you self-host.
  • Read-only portal users on a single client portal do not count as licenses, and there is no minimum and no setup fee. The trial is 14 days, so you can review a client before the first paid month.

Cons

  • This is not the vault you hand every client employee as their daily password manager, because the bill follows technicians who can log in.
  • Network discovery is Radar, a separate collector price, so the documentation seat does not include a discovered map of the client network.
7 IT Glue logo

IT Glue

A technician documentation vault on a 36-month term, with the employee password manager sold beside it.

Pricing
Basic $29/user/mo, 5-user minimum, 36-month term. MyGlue, the end-user vault, is $407/mo extra.

Best for: MSPs that want the technician vault on a 36-month seat and will add MyGlue for staff

Pros

  • Every plan includes the vault, unlimited organizations, SSO, an OTP generator, and audit history. Select adds a second integration and two-way PSA sync. Enterprise removes the integration cap, which is the plan once Select is too narrow.
  • MyGlue is the separate end-user password manager, with a client portal and co-managed access, so employee passwords are not stored as technician documents.

Cons

  • The listed rates assume a 36-month term, a five-user minimum, and a one-time activation fee the pricing page does not print, and the fee cannot be waived, so the first invoice exceeds the seat math.
  • MyGlue and Network Glue are extra monthly products that require an IT Glue subscription. Buying Basic does not include password rotation or an employee vault.
8 N-able Passportal logo

N-able Passportal

A cloud vault built for MSP privileged credentials, with automation and no public unit price.

Pricing
Publishes no list price. The quote form is the price. A 30-day trial is available.

Best for: MSPs that want a purpose-built privileged vault and can wait on a quote

Pros

  • The product is aimed at MSP privileged access: password generation, change automation, granular access, and audit logs, including accounts in Active Directory, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365.
  • Passportal's own product page describes a cloud vault used across client sites, and the trial documented by N-able runs 30 days, which is longer than the 14-day trials on the employee vaults.

Cons

  • There is no public per-user or per-technician rate, so this line cannot sit in a 100-user total until the quote comes back.
  • It is a privileged and documentation vault, not a published employee password manager with a seat price you can mark up from a rate card.

What it is

A password manager for an MSP is a vault the provider runs for many client companies from one console, then bills by user or by technician. Name the wrong person and the invoice will not match the quote.

The employee vault is what staff open in the browser, and you resell it when client headcount should drive the bill. 1Password MSP Edition puts every client in one console, bills the MSP rather than the client for seats actually used, and deploys the Business plan only, so Teams and family plans need another contract.

Bitwarden does the same job through a Provider Portal that has no portal fee, then charges a Teams floor and an Enterprise floor you set yourself, and empty seats on that floor still cost money. KeeperMSP averages daily licenses and bills the next month, which suits a book that changes during the month, and the public page still does not print that unit, so you can show only the business list. NordPass offers Business or Enterprise from an MSP admin panel and does not offer the Teams pack there, so a public Teams quote cannot be sold in the panel.

The technician vault holds firewall, domain, and local administrator passwords. Hudu and IT Glue price the technicians who log in, and a read-only portal user is not the same seat, so a client who only looks does not multiply the bill. Devolutions prices a named user inside one subscription: the workforce package is the staff vault, and the remote desktop package is the technician, which suits one organization rather than a multi-client console. Passportal is the N-able product built for that privileged store, and the quote form is the price.

Privileged access beyond a shared vault is a different purchase, covered in best privileged access management tools, and developer secrets in a pipeline are covered in best secrets management tools. Neither of those replaces the employee password manager that a client's staff open each morning.

Why it matters

The same 100 client employees are a different invoice depending on which meter you picked. On the published MSP rate, 1Password for those 100 users is $500 a month, paid in arrears, and eight technician logins at the same unit add $40, for $540. A client who buys 1Password Business directly, at the public annual rate, is $899 a month on that same hundred, or $10,788 for the year. Buying direct is the larger contract, and it takes the MSP off the invoice.

Bitwarden's public Teams list for 100 users is $4,800 for the year, and that plan does not include passwordless SSO, so a client with an identity provider will outgrow it. The Enterprise list for the same hundred is $7,200 for the year, which is the plan that adds SSO, policies, and self-hosting. The provider invoice can differ, because the partner rate is inside the portal, and the pricing page does not print the discount. Do not book the margin until that invoice is in hand.

Keeper's business list for 100 users follows that same pair of yearly totals, and it is not the MSP invoice. A client shown that card has heard a number the partner bill may not match. KeeperMSP charges the average of each day's license count, with no long-term seat commitment, which suits a book that adds and drops people inside the month, and the MSP page does not print the unit. Starter, at the low end of the business card, only covers 5 to 10 users, so it is the wrong row for a client book of this size.

Devolutions' workforce package for 100 named users is $3,600 for the year, the lowest published USD staff vault here, and it is one subscription rather than a client console, which suits a single organization. Eight technicians on the remote desktop package are $2,880 for the year. Buying them the workforce package does not give them the connection manager.

Eight Hudu technicians on the annual rate are $216 a month, which covers people who log in and does not cover the client's staff. The same eight on IT Glue Basic are $232 a month, on a 36-month term, and MyGlue, the end-user password manager, is another $407 a month on top. Spreading that flat MyGlue fee across 100 employees is not a per-user price the page prints, so you cannot resell it as a seat, and Passportal cannot enter this total until a quote arrives.

The cross-shop pattern behind the employee names is on Toolradar's password manager statistics: as of 17 October 2026, 1Password is listed as an alternative to 34 other tools. Clients still name it when the vault you want to standardize on is a different one.

Key features to look for

Who the seat counts
1Password, Bitwarden, Keeper, and NordPass meter the client employee, so client hiring moves the bill. Hudu and IT Glue meter the technician, so your own hiring moves it instead. Devolutions meters a named user inside one subscription, and a quote that mixes those meters will not match the invoice.
Whether the MSP unit is printed
1Password prints the MSP unit, so the rate can go out before a call. Bitwarden and Keeper print a business list and keep the partner unit in the portal or on a form, so the slide can miss the agreement. NordPass prints a public plan list and no separate MSP card, so you bill the euro list on the page. Passportal prints no rate at all, so a deal that needs a number this week should use another product.
What happens when someone leaves
1Password bills the month's actual use in arrears, so a departure drops off after that month. Keeper averages the days a license was in use, which credits a short-lived seat. NordPass bills a seat for the whole month once it is active, including a pending invite and a suspended seat, so a late cleanup still costs that month. Bitwarden keeps charging the floor you committed to, even when some of those seats are empty.
What the console is allowed to see
1Password's external manager can be granted shared-vault access, and the client still holds the vault keys, which suits a client who keeps the master secrets. Bitwarden's Provider Portal cannot manage a self-hosted organization, so that tenant leaves the MSP console. A technician vault in Hudu or IT Glue is your copy of the client's admin passwords, a different trust decision than an employee vault.

Pricing

Prices were read on 18 October 2026 on each vendor's own page. Yearly figures below are the published monthly rate times 12 times the user count. They are list math, not a tax invoice, and they are not a partner discount. Where a page prints no MSP unit, the row says so, and that line stays out of the total.

For 100 client employees, the gap between the MSP bill and direct Business is $4,788 a year, and it exists only if the MSP is the buyer. A client that signs Business itself gives up that difference. Bitwarden's public Enterprise year sits above the MSP bill, the Teams year leaves SSO off the plan, and Keeper's yearly lists are the business card rather than KeeperMSP.

Eight technicians are their own column, priced as the people who log in rather than as a hundred employees. IT Glue Basic plus MyGlue, when employees need a vault, is $639 a month before the activation fee. Hudu's annual rate is the documentation seat, the monthly row is the price of skipping that term, and the Devolutions workforce package does not replace the remote desktop package.

NordPass Business at the 1-year rate is €3.99 per user a month, so 100 users are €399 a month and a five-user minimum is €239.40 for the year. A smaller client still pays that minimum, and the price is in euros before VAT, so a dollar proposal has to convert it.

Methodology: we started from the password managers an MSP is asked to deploy, kept products with a current vendor page, and priced 100 client users plus eight technicians from those pages. Dupple has no test lab, so nothing here is a hands-on result. Mistakes to avoid
×Quoting 1Password's direct Business card to a client overstates the MSP agreement, because the MSP unit is lower, monthly, and billed to the provider.
×Putting a client that needs SSO on Bitwarden Teams buys the cheaper public list and leaves passwordless SSO on Enterprise.
×Treating Keeper's business list as the KeeperMSP invoice will not survive the partner bill, because that unit is not on the MSP page.
×Counting a NordPass pending invite as free undercharges the month, because active, pending, and suspended seats all bill for the whole month.
×Pricing Hudu or IT Glue per client employee multiplies the wrong person. Those seats are technicians, and the employee vault is MyGlue or a separate product.
Expert tips
→Write the meter into the client agreement before you import passwords, per employee, per technician, or a flat add-on, because the invoice will follow that choice.
→Keep 1Password internal-use licenses on the same agreement as client seats, because they are the same unit and they are how technicians open the console.
→Set Bitwarden's Teams floor and Enterprise floor to the seats you will actually assign. Empty seats above a client's need still sit on the floor you chose.
→Turn off NordPass automatic conversion if a 14-day trial should not become a paid month, and watch trials that end before the 14th, because those can bill in the current month.
→Ask IT Glue for the activation fee in writing. The pricing page says the fee cannot be waived and does not print the amount.

The bottom line

1Password MSP Edition is the 2026 pick when the MSP has to show a client a per-user rate before anyone fills in a form. Read the 1Password review with the MSP FAQ, because the direct business card is a different contract. The published unit is monthly, in arrears, and it already includes the Business plan.

Use Bitwarden when the provider portal matters more than a printed partner rate, and buy Enterprise if the client needs SSO. Use Keeper when usage averaging fits the way you add and remove staff, and get the unit from the MSP agreement rather than the business card. Use NordPass when a euro list and unpaid NFR seats are acceptable, and remember the Teams pack is not what the panel sells.

Use Devolutions when one organization wants a named-user vault and technicians will live in the remote desktop package. Use Hudu or IT Glue when the thing you are storing is the client's admin documentation, and add MyGlue only if employees need their own vault. Leave Passportal on a quote if the number can wait. Plan-by-plan Bitwarden math, outside the MSP console, is in Bitwarden pricing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best password manager for MSPs in 2026?

1Password MSP Edition, when you need a rate you can put on a proposal before a sales call. It is $5 per user a month, billed in arrears, with no seat minimum, and the same unit covers a technician login. Choose Bitwarden when you want a provider portal and will accept that the partner rate is on the invoice. Choose Hudu or IT Glue when the passwords in question belong to technicians, not to every client employee, because those bills stay flat when the client hires.

How much does a password manager cost an MSP for 100 users?

On rates checked 18 October 2026, 100 client users on 1Password MSP Edition are $500 a month, and eight technician logins add $40. The same 100 users on direct 1Password Business are $10,788 for the year. Bitwarden Teams' public list is $4,800 for the year and Enterprise's public list is $7,200, before any partner discount. Devolutions workforce is $3,600 for the year for 100 named users inside one subscription. NordPass Business at the 1-year rate is €399 a month for 100 users. Eight Hudu technicians are $216 a month on the annual rate, which is not a 100-employee bill.

Is there a free password manager for MSPs?

None of the multi-client products here is free for ongoing client use. Bitwarden's Provider Portal has no fee, and the Teams and Enterprise seats under it are paid. 1Password gives the MSP a 14-day trial, and client companies onboarded during that trial are not a separate trial. NordPass gives managed organizations a 14-day trial that can convert to a paid month. Hudu's trial is 14 days and Passportal's documented trial is 30 days, so the privileged vault gives you longer before a decision. Keeper offers a trial on Business, Enterprise, and KeeperPAM and does not print the length on the pricing page.

1Password or Bitwarden for an MSP?

Choose 1Password MSP Edition when the unit has to be public and the client needs Business features, including identity-provider integrations, with no seat minimum. Choose Bitwarden Teams when the public annual list is enough and the client does not need passwordless SSO. Choose Bitwarden Enterprise when you need SSO or self-hosting, knowing self-hosted organizations cannot be managed from the Provider Portal, and knowing the partner discount is not on the pricing page. Bitwarden's public Enterprise year for 100 users sits above a year of the 1Password MSP unit.

Which password managers for MSPs publish a price?

1Password publishes the MSP unit, so the rate can go on a proposal before a call. Bitwarden, Keeper, and Devolutions publish business or package lists, and Bitwarden and Keeper do not print the MSP unit next to them, so the list is a budget figure rather than the partner invoice. NordPass publishes a public plan list and does not print a separate MSP card. Hudu and IT Glue publish technician rates, which price documentation rather than every employee. Passportal publishes no list price, and IT Glue's one-time activation fee is required and not printed.

What is the difference between a technician vault and a client password manager?

A client password manager is the vault employees use in the browser, priced per person at companies you manage, and 1Password, Bitwarden, Keeper, and NordPass are that product, so client hiring moves the bill. A technician vault is where your staff keep firewall, domain, and local admin passwords, priced per technician at Hudu and IT Glue, or left as a quote at Passportal. MyGlue is IT Glue's add-on when you need both, at $407 a month on top of the technician subscription. Devolutions splits the same idea into a workforce package and a remote desktop package, and it does so inside one subscription rather than an MSP console.
