KnowBe4 Review 2026: Pricing, Pros, Cons and Alternatives
The 50-person bill on Foundation and Advanced, the add-ons that start at 101 seats, and how Huntress, Wizer and Microsoft change the contract.
KnowBe4 is worth it in 2026 when your team will run the training and can sign for three years. SAT Foundation is $2.40 per seat each month on the 25-50 row, so 50 people cost $1,440 a year, or $4,320 across the term. Huntress is $1,248 a year for those 50 people, Wizer Boost is $25 per user a year at that headcount, and Advanced on that row is $3.75 per seat each month.
Huntress is the 12-month managed option when nobody will staff the console. Wizer carries the same three-year lock for a buyer who can skip the Advanced-only tests. That Advanced rate pays off only when voice, USB or QR tests, or the coaching agent, will actually run. Proofpoint and Hoxhunt do not publish a price, so they suit a buyer who will take a quote.
Key factsBest for: Teams that will run the console and can sign a three-year…
- Self-run phishing and lessons for a team that can live with a three-year seat bill.
- Term: Both content levels are a three-year commitment, and the first printed row starts at 25 seats, so anything smaller is a conversation.
- 50-person Foundation year: A 50-seat Foundation year is the monthly rate times the seats times 12, and the contract repeats that year three times.
- Advanced-only tests: Simulated vishing, USB tests, physical QR tests and AIDA sit on Advanced, so Foundation buyers who need them are looking at an upgrade.
- Add-on floor: PhishER Plus and Compliance Plus show list rates only from 101 seats upward, so a smaller order has to ask for those lines.
Pros
- Foundation includes unlimited phishing tests, the Phish Alert Button and a 200+ library, so the cheaper level already runs an inbox program.
- Advanced adds a 1,000+ library, simulated vishing, USB and QR tests, and AIDA for teams that will use them.
- AD or SCIM provisioning and SAML single sign-on are on both levels, so Advanced is not an identity upgrade.
Cons
- The commitment is three years, and there is no printed row below 25 seats, so a smaller team cannot read its price.
- Vishing, AIDA and PasswordIQ are Advanced only, so Foundation has no auto-coaching and no out-of-inbox tests.
- PhishER Plus and Compliance Plus list rates start at 101 seats, so a 50-seat order cannot price those add-ons.

Price the three-year lock before the demo, because KnowBe4's opening Foundation row looks cheap next to an email-security suite. The invoice is still a multi-year seat commitment, with a second content level above it for teams that outgrow inbox simulations.
A security lead who will live in the console can defend Foundation, because the bill is printed and the work stays in-house. A lead who wanted someone else to run the campaigns, or who already holds Microsoft 365 E5, is shopping a different product.
The ranking of simulation style lives on our security awareness training ranking, and this page stays on the contract.
Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, tracks 77 learning and training tools as of October 16, 2026, and it re-checked pricing on 68% of them in the prior 90 days, on its learning and training ranking.
The profiles beside this buy are KnowBe4, Huntress, Hoxhunt and Proofpoint.
Methodology: on October 17, 2026 we read the vendor pricing and product pages named below. No trial console was opened. Each yearly figure is the printed per-seat rate times the seats times 12, and each three-year figure multiplies that year by three.
Taxes, reseller discounts and regional changes are left out. Dupple runs no test lab, so nothing here is a hands-on result.
What is KnowBe4?
KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training is a console for simulated phishing and assigned lessons, sold as Foundation or Advanced. Security awareness training, in this buy, means short lessons plus fake attacks that show who clicks and who reports.
The record is what a security lead can show an insurer or a board, so you are buying a paper trail as well as lessons.
Foundation is the operating tier, not a teaser. Both levels include unlimited phishing tests, the Phish Alert Button, a 200+ library, Active Directory or SCIM provisioning, and SAML single sign-on, so an inbox program does not need the higher rate.
Advanced adds the 1,000+ library, voice and physical tests, security roles, PasswordIQ and AIDA, and that gap is worth paying only if you will use them. Smart Groups are limited on Foundation and unlimited on Advanced, and KnowBe4 does not publish the Foundation cap, so ask before you sign if you need many groups.
Extra tenants are a separate fee the table does not print, which matters when an MSSP wants one console for several clients. Directory provisioning that points at Okta is a different purchase from these seats, covered in our Okta review.
How KnowBe4 works
An admin enrolls users, sends simulated phishing, and assigns lessons from the library that matches the level you bought. The Phish Alert Button sits in the mail client on both levels, so a reported message can reach the people who already triage mail.
Pair it with our email security tools guide, or the detection layer in AI phishing detection, because training shows who clicked and does not stop the message.
A failed test does not auto-coach on Foundation, so someone has to assign the next lesson by hand. AIDA, included only on Advanced, can send a short tip or a full assignment after a failure, which is what the higher tier adds.
Foundation can still schedule campaigns and reminder mail when a person will choose that follow-up.
PasswordIQ, on Advanced only, watches Active Directory for shared, weak or breached passwords. That watch is an adjacent control, not a password vault, so do not treat this contract as a password manager.
The free-tools offer is a sample, not a seat plan: a four-vector Attack Simulation Test and a Training Preview of more than 1,000 modules, games and videos. What those free steps omit is covered on our free awareness training page.
KnowBe4 key features
KnowBe4 pricing
Foundation at 50 seats is the number to take into the budget meeting. The opening row times those seats times 12 is $1,440 for the year and $4,320 across the term. That three-year total is the signature, because KnowBe4 publishes the monthly rate rather than the invoice.
The table is labeled May 2026, and KnowBe4 says the list can change, vary by region and exclude taxes. Non-profit and competitive-upgrade discounts have no amount printed, so leave them out until the concession is in writing.
Advanced on that same 25-50 row comes to $2,250 for one year and $6,750 across three years. The gap versus Foundation at 50 seats is $2,430 over the term, and that premium buys the 1,000+ library, the out-of-inbox tests, AIDA, PasswordIQ and the exposure check, not a shorter commitment. A team that never turns those channels on still pays the premium for the whole term.
Later rows step down, so a company past the first band should stop using the opening rate. The lowest printed Foundation figure, $1.63, sits on the 501-1,000 row, and above that the order is a quote. There is no printed row below 25 seats, so a smaller team has to ask for a price.
Add-ons can rival the training line once you cross 100 seats, which is the first row with printed rates for Compliance Plus, PhishER Plus, Student Edition and the integrations add-on. A 50-seat company will not find those cells, so PhishER at that size is a quote.
The integrations add-on is unlimited third-party integrations for real-time coaching, and the column points at KnowBe4's SecurityCoach page. KnowBe4 places that add-on on Advanced only, so the printed coaching rate does not apply to Foundation.
At 250 seats the Foundation training year is $5,910, and PhishER Plus for that same year is $4,500. Together those lines are $10,410 before Compliance Plus, which is the figure to show someone who thought training was the whole contract.
The next add-on row is lower for integrations, Compliance Plus and PhishER Plus, while Student Edition stays flat, and above 1,000 seats every add-on is a quote.
Huntress Managed SAT is the managed comparison that still prints a rate. Fifty learners at the MSRP come to $1,248 over twelve months, and you should compare that one-year bill with a KnowBe4 year, not with the three-year signature.
The Huntress term is 12 months, and there is no separate setup fee, so the learner rate is the number to budget. A direct or reseller order requires 50 seats per product, which makes 50 learners the smallest order you place yourself.
An MSP can buy without that floor, but the partner price is not on the public page. The wider stack is in our Huntress review and the MDR services guide.
Do not budget 50 people at the 100-learner example of $1.75, because that rate is printed for 100 learners. One hundred learners at that example come to $2,100 over twelve months. One hundred Foundation seats are $2,556 a year, so the example undercuts Foundation by $456 on a one-year term, and using it for 50 people understates Huntress.
Wizer Boost publishes an annual list on a three-year term, billed annually. The opening row is $25 per user a year, and Wizer's own example is $625 a year for 25 users, so the band is straight multiplication. Fifty users stay on that row, because the next break is 51+, and those 50 users come to $1,250 a year, or $3,750 across three years.
At this headcount Wizer's three-year total sits under Foundation when you do not need Advanced. Later rows step down through $8 before a contact-sales band at 5,000 users. A one-year term is contact sales, the free plan has no phishing simulations, and checkout asks for at least 25 users, so none of those replaces the printed three-year row.
Defender for Office 365 Plan 2 is $5 per user each month, paid yearly, and the plan includes attack simulation training plus mailbox protection.
Plan 1's feature list does not include the simulations. Fifty Plan 2 seats are $3,000 a year, which buys the suite rather than a training console alone. Microsoft's docs require Microsoft 365 E5 or Plan 2 for attack simulation training, so use the built-in simulations before you add a second platform. A 90-day Plan 2 trial is described on the setup page.
Proofpoint ZenGuide does not publish a price, so a 50-person year waits on sales. AI ThreatFlip turns a real phishing message into a simulation template, which is the reason to call when you want to train on mail you have already caught.
The page places the training inside Collaboration Security Prime, so the quote may be a bundle rather than a training seat.
Hoxhunt does not publish a price either, and the quote is per employee after a 30-minute scoping call, based on headcount and the capabilities you pick. The product page describes 300+ modules, training in 40+ languages and adaptive phishing.
A 50-person year cannot be computed until that call, so Hoxhunt fits only when a list rate is not how you buy.

KnowBe4 pros and cons
What we like
- Foundation includes unlimited phishing tests, the Phish Alert Button and a 200+ library, so the cheaper level already runs an inbox program.
- Advanced adds a 1,000+ library, simulated vishing, USB and QR tests, and AIDA for teams that will use them.
- AD or SCIM provisioning and SAML single sign-on are on both levels, so Advanced is not an identity upgrade.
What could be better
- The commitment is three years, and there is no printed row below 25 seats, so a smaller team cannot read its price.
- Vishing, AIDA and PasswordIQ are Advanced only, so Foundation has no auto-coaching and no out-of-inbox tests.
- PhishER Plus and Compliance Plus list rates start at 101 seats, so a 50-seat order cannot price those add-ons.
Who KnowBe4 is for
Buy KnowBe4 Foundation when a security or IT owner will run the campaigns, the company can sign for three years, and the work is inbox simulations plus a 200-piece library. Fifty people on the opening row is a knowable bill, which is the point of a printed table.
Move to Advanced when someone will run vishing, USB or QR tests, or when more than one admin needs security roles and you want AIDA choosing the follow-up. Skip Advanced when the goal is a monthly phish and a completion report, because the extra premium is real money for channels that may never be turned on.
Skip KnowBe4 when you want the program operated for you. Huntress Managed SAT is the printed managed option, on a 12-month term with a 50-seat floor if you buy direct. Skip KnowBe4 when Microsoft 365 E5 or Defender for Office 365 Plan 2 is already licensed, because the simulations are already paid for.
Skip it when you want Proofpoint or Hoxhunt and a printed rate is not how you will choose.
An IT team of one pricing a whole stack should use our stack for an IT team of one. Contract changes show up in the Cyberpresso daily brief.

The bottom line
Sign Foundation when your own team will run the simulations and the 200-piece library is enough. At 50 seats the commitment is three years of the opening rate times seats times 12, which is the bill to approve if the work stays in the inbox.
Sign Advanced only when vishing, USB or QR tests, or AIDA, are on the plan for this term. The premium at 50 seats is $2,430 over three years, and it is wasted if those tests stay off.
Choose Huntress Managed SAT when you want the program run for you and can accept a 50-seat direct minimum on a 12-month term. Choose Wizer Boost when a printed annual rate on a similar lock beats Foundation at 50 users and you do not need Advanced.
Stay inside Microsoft when E5 or Plan 2 is already paid, because the simulations come with that license. Call Proofpoint or Hoxhunt when you want threat-led or adaptive training and you have accepted a sales process.
