NordLayer Pricing 2026: Lite, Core, Premium Per User
NordLayer costs from $8 per user a month billed yearly in 2026, with a 5-user minimum and a $40 server on Core and Premium. Plans, add-ons and team costs.

NordLayer costs $8 per user a month on Lite, $11 on Core and $14 on Premium in 2026, billed yearly, with a 5-user minimum on every plan. Monthly billing costs more on every plan, as the table below shows. Core and Premium also require a server with a dedicated IP at $40 a month on yearly billing, and teams of 200 or more can get an Enterprise offer from $6 per user.
That server line is the number most quotes leave out. A 5-person team on Core pays $1,140 a year, not $660, because the required dedicated-IP server adds $480 to the bill. Lite skips the server and is the plan for teams that only need protected internet access, not a private gateway.
Every price below was read on NordLayer's pricing page on 19 October 2026; NordLayer charges in US dollars and adds VAT or sales tax on top. Toolradar data: Toolradar, the software directory we run, tracks 36 VPN tools as of 19 October 2026, and 58% of them are free, freemium or open source, so a paid business VPN like NordLayer competes on control and support rather than on price. The most cross-shopped VPN in that VPN ranking is Tailscale, listed as an alternative to 42 other tools.
How much does each NordLayer plan cost?
| Plan | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Minimum | Dedicated-IP server | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | $8 per user/mo | $10 per user/mo | 5 users | Not included | Teams that need encrypted internet access and threat blocking only |
| Core | $11 per user/mo | $14 per user/mo | 5 users | Required, $40/mo yearly or $50/mo monthly | Teams that need a fixed IP for allowlisting and DNS filtering |
| Premium | $14 per user/mo | $18 per user/mo | 5 users | Required, same server and price as Core | Teams linking offices and enforcing device posture |
| Enterprise offer | From $6 per user/mo | Yearly only | 200 users | Custom | Larger companies starting from Lite capabilities |
Yearly billing saves 20% on Lite, 21% on Core and 22% on Premium, according to the discount labels on NordLayer's plan cards. The yearly per-user rate is shown as a monthly figure, and NordLayer's FAQ says each organization chooses whether it is billed monthly or once a year, with the annual plan costing less.
Each license covers up to 6 devices, so one employee can connect a laptop, a phone and a tablet on a single seat. Licenses are also transferable: when someone leaves, you reassign the seat instead of buying a new one, and extra licenses added mid-term are prorated.
What a team actually pays
The table adds the per-user fee and, on Core and Premium, one required dedicated-IP server, on yearly billing. Totals are our arithmetic on NordLayer's printed rates, before tax.
| Team size | Lite, per year | Core, per year | Premium, per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 users | $480 | $1,140 | $1,320 |
| 10 users | $960 | $1,800 | $2,160 |
| 25 users | $2,400 | $3,780 | $4,680 |
| 50 users | $4,800 | $7,080 | $8,880 |
The server matters most at small sizes. At 5 users it lifts Core's effective rate to $19 per user a month and Premium's to $22, well above the headline. At 50 users the same $480 a year adds less than $1 per user a month, so the sticker price becomes the real price.
Monthly billing costs noticeably more for the flexibility. A 10-person team pays $1,200 a year on Lite, $2,280 on Core and $2,760 on Premium when billed monthly, against the yearly figures in the table, because both the seats and the server cost more month to month.
The Enterprise floor is worth asking about once headcount reaches 200. At the $6 starting rate, 200 seats cost $14,400 a year, against $19,200 for the same seats on Lite at list price. NordLayer notes that the price changes if you add a higher plan or extra features, so treat $6 as the entry to a negotiation.
What each plan includes
Lite: protected internet access
Every plan includes Download Protection and Web Protection against malicious files and domains, the NordLynx, OpenVPN UDP and OpenVPN TCP protocols, shared gateways in 40+ countries at up to 1 Gbps, multi-factor authentication, SSO with Okta, Entra ID, OneLogin, Google and JumpCloud, Always On VPN and activity reports. Lite stops there. It has no private gateway, no dedicated IP, no split tunneling and no DNS filtering, and user provisioning and device posture monitoring are add-ons.
That makes Lite a fit for a remote team that wants safe Wi-Fi and threat blocking, not for one that needs to lock a SaaS admin panel to a company IP address.
Core: a private gateway with a fixed IP
Core adds a Virtual Private Gateway in 40+ countries, the required dedicated-IP server, IP allowlisting, DNS filtering across 50+ website categories, an application blocker covering 400+ apps and protocols, custom DNS, split tunneling, biometrics and manual configuration. The cloud firewall is a sales conversation on Core rather than an included feature, and device posture security and user provisioning are add-ons. NordLayer marks Core as its top choice, and for most small IT teams the fixed IP is the reason to buy.
Premium: firewall, site-to-site and device checks
Premium includes the cloud firewall for network segmentation, device posture security that blocks non-compliant devices, a site-to-site connector, Cloud LAN for device-to-device file sharing, a browser extension with URL-based split tunneling, and user provisioning with Entra ID and Okta. Support is priority on Premium. Pick it when you connect branch offices or must prove that only managed devices reach internal systems, because buying those pieces on Core means a sales call and add-ons.
Enterprise offer: 200 seats and up
Enterprise starts from Lite capabilities, offers gateways in up to 60 countries and adds a technical solution architect and custom limits. Every higher feature on that plan is marked custom, so the final price depends on what you add.

Add-ons and costs outside the plan price
- Dedicated-IP server: required on Core and Premium, at the yearly or monthly server rate in the plan table.
- CrowdStrike Falcon Go: $2 per device a month as an add-on on Lite, Core and Premium, for endpoint protection against malware and ransomware.
- CrowdStrike Falcon Enterprise: $9 per device a month, adding detection, investigation and response.
- Dark web monitoring and the password manager: both are sales quotes on every plan.
- Tax: prices exclude VAT and sales tax, which NordLayer calculates at checkout.
- Dedicated account manager: included on Core and Premium once you buy 30 or more licenses; smaller teams use the 24/7 chat and email support.
Is NordLayer worth it?
NordLayer is good value on Lite for a small remote team that wants a managed business VPN with SSO and threat blocking at the lowest per-seat rate NordLayer sells. It is a fair buy on Core once you need a fixed IP, as long as you budget the server. Premium earns its price only if you use site-to-site links or device posture checks; otherwise Core does the same daily job for less.
Two buyer types should compare before signing. Engineering teams that want a peer-to-peer mesh rather than a gateway should read our NordLayer vs Tailscale comparison and the Tailscale pricing guide. Teams moving toward zero trust access per application should check the Twingate review, the Twingate vs Tailscale comparison and Cloudflare Zero Trust pricing.
For the product itself, our NordLayer review covers setup and daily use. The best VPN for small business and best zero trust platforms rankings place NordLayer against the field, and the cheapest VPN guide covers consumer plans if your team is very small.
How we priced it
We read NordLayer's pricing page, its plan comparison table and its billing FAQ on 19 October 2026, including the monthly and yearly rates behind its billing toggle. Team totals are our arithmetic on those printed prices, with one dedicated-IP server on Core and Premium, before tax and add-ons. Cyberpresso runs no test lab and holds no account with NordLayer, so nothing here is a negotiated quote.
FAQ
How much does NordLayer cost per user in 2026?
NordLayer costs $8 per user a month on Lite, $11 on Core and $14 on Premium when billed yearly, and more on monthly billing. Every plan has a 5-user minimum. Core and Premium also require a dedicated-IP server, priced separately.
Does NordLayer have a free plan or free trial?
NordLayer has no free plan. It offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on its plans, and you can create an account and explore the Control Panel, set up teams and gateways before you buy a subscription.
Why does NordLayer Core cost more than $11 per user?
Because Core requires a server with a dedicated IP, priced at $40 a month on yearly billing or $50 on monthly billing. For 5 users on yearly billing that brings Core to $1,140 a year, or about $19 per user a month. The server's share shrinks as the team grows.

Five users on Lite, Core and Premium, and 200 users for the Enterprise offer. A 3-person company still pays for 5 seats, which on Lite is $480 a year billed yearly.
How many devices does one NordLayer license cover?
Each user license covers up to 6 devices, on every plan. NordLayer apps run on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and Linux, and Core and Premium also allow manual configuration on devices without a supported app.
Is NordLayer cheaper billed yearly or monthly?
Yearly. NordLayer's plan cards show 20% off on Lite, 21% on Core and 22% on Premium, and the dedicated-IP server costs $10 a month less. A 10-person Core team pays $1,800 a year on yearly billing against $2,280 on monthly billing.
