ExpressVPN Pricing 2026: Basic, Advanced, Pro and Renewals

ExpressVPN pricing in 2026: Basic $2.99, Advanced $4.49 and Pro $7.49 a month on the 28-month plan, plus the yearly renewal each tier charges after it.

ExpressVPN Pricing 2026: Basic, Advanced, Pro and Renewals

ExpressVPN costs $2.99 a month on Basic, $4.49 on Advanced and $7.49 on Pro, on a 28-month plan billed once at $83.72, $125.72 or $209.72. After those 28 months each tier renews automatically at a yearly rate the pricing page prints under the price: $99.95, $119.95 or $199.95. All figures are US dollars, before tax, read on ExpressVPN's pricing page on 19 October 2026.

That page offers one term per tier: 2 years plus 4 months. It shows no monthly plan and no 12-month plan, so the choice a buyer makes there is the tier, not the length of the commitment. The renewal line matters as much as the headline rate, because it is what every year after the first 28 months costs.

ExpressVPN prices at a glance

Tier Per month (28-month plan) Billed for 28 months Renews at Renewal per month (our arithmetic) Devices
Basic $2.99 $83.72 $99.95 a year $8.33 10
Advanced $4.49 $125.72 $119.95 a year $10.00 12
Pro $7.49 $209.72 $199.95 a year $16.66 14

Prices are in US dollars before sales tax, which the page says is added at checkout where it applies. The per-month and billed figures are the page's own. The renewal-per-month column is our arithmetic: the printed yearly rate divided by 12. A 30-day money-back guarantee covers new users on every tier.

Toolradar data: on Toolradar, the software directory we run, ExpressVPN holds an aggregate rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 291 reviews across G2 and Capterra, last checked 17 September 2026, and its pricing was re-verified on 10 October 2026. The rating says nothing about the price, which is why the renewal column above matters more than the score when you budget.

What each ExpressVPN tier includes

Basic is the VPN with a light set of extras. For $2.99 a month you get the VPN at speeds the vendor quotes as up to 40 Gbps, 10 devices at once, servers in 113 countries, and "Lite Protection", which blocks ads, malicious sites and adult sites. The bundled email alias service is capped at a 10 MB bandwidth limit with 10 shared aliases and 25 anonymous emails a day. A dedicated IP is sold as an add-on, not included.

Advanced is the tier the page flags as most popular. The $1.50 monthly step up from Basic adds tracker blocking, raises the device count to 12, and adds the password manager column of the comparison table, with a two-factor authenticator and 5 GB of file attachments in the vault. The email alias service grows to a 100 MB limit, 50 shared aliases and one custom domain. Advanced also lists $3M of identity theft insurance and an eSIM with 3 GB of data for three days. If you pay for a password manager today, Advanced can retire that bill; our best password managers ranking shows what those cost separately.

Pro is where the dedicated IP stops being an add-on. At $7.49 a month it includes the dedicated IP, 14 devices, an unlimited email alias bandwidth with 20 custom domains, $5M of identity theft insurance, the eSIM extended to five days, and a private AI chatbot with 500 credits a day across six models and 2 GB of file storage. The dedicated IP is the item most buyers would otherwise pay for, so Pro makes sense mainly if you need a fixed address for remote access or allow-listing.

What the 28-month price covers

Each plan bills the full 28 months at checkout, so the number to compare is the total you pay on day one. Basic costs $83.72, Advanced $125.72 and Pro $209.72. The step from Basic to Advanced is $42.00 over the term, and from Advanced to Pro $84.00.

The page shows each plan with a struck-through figure ($419.72, $475.72 and $643.72) and a "total savings" line of $336.00, $350.00 and $434.00. Those savings are measured against the struck-through figures, not against a plan you can buy on the pricing page, so the useful numbers are the billed price and the renewal.

The long term has one real cost: commitment. The terms of service give new subscribers a full refund if they cancel within 30 calendar days of the first purchase. After that, a buyer who sours on the service is holding prepaid months with no guaranteed refund route; other refund requests are handled case by case.

The renewal price is printed, and it is the real price

The pricing page states under each plan that it "autorenews" at its yearly rate after the first 28 months. Those rates work out to $8.33, $10.00 and $16.66 a month, which is roughly 2.8 times the 28-month rate on Basic and about 2.2 times on Advanced and Pro.

A 40-month budget shows the effect. A Basic buyer pays $83.72 for the first 28 months and $99.95 for the first renewal year, so 40 months cost $183.67, or $4.59 a month. On Advanced the same 40 months cost $245.67, and on Pro $409.67. In each case the renewal year costs more than the whole 28-month term did on Basic and nearly as much as it did on Pro.

The terms of service say plans renew automatically by default at the end of the billing term, until cancelled, when the payment method supports it, such as a card or PayPal. Payment methods that do not support auto-renewal, such as Bitcoin, leave renewal off, and the service is suspended at the end of the term until a manual payment is made. The terms also say a price change does not affect the current subscription period and takes effect at renewal.

Cancelling auto-renewal is a self-service step under My Account, or a live chat or email request. The money-back guarantee does not cover renewal purchases, so the time to decide is before the term ends, not after the charge lands.

Where you buy matters

Subscribers who buy through the Apple App Store or Google Play do not get ExpressVPN's 30-day money-back guarantee, per the terms of service; refunds there are at Apple's or Google's discretion. Purchases made with redemption codes such as gift cards are excluded from the guarantee too. Buying on the website keeps the guarantee for a first purchase.

How ExpressVPN compares on price

ExpressVPN is not the cheapest VPN, and it does not try to be. Our cheapest VPN guide prices the budget options, and the Surfshark price breakdown shows a two-year plan with bonus months at a lower monthly rate. Against those, ExpressVPN's case rests on the included extras at Advanced and above, on 10 to 14 devices, and on a renewal rate printed where you can budget for it. For a short test before committing, the VPN free trials guide covers the options.

Readers who want the full picture of what the service does with that money should read the ExpressVPN review. The NordVPN review and the Proton VPN review cover the two services most often shopped against it, and best VPN for small business is the place to start if the buyer is a company rather than a person.

Which ExpressVPN plan to buy

  • One person, VPN only: Basic, $83.72 for 28 months.
  • One person or household that already pays for a password manager: Advanced, which folds the password manager into $125.72 for 28 months.
  • Anyone who needs a dedicated IP: Pro, where the IP is included rather than sold as an add-on.
  • Anyone unsure they will keep a VPN for 28 months: buy on the website, not in an app store, so the 30-day guarantee applies, and decide within those 30 days.
  • Everyone who stays past the first term: set a reminder for the renewal date, because the yearly rate is printed and it is higher.
