Wiz Review 2026: Pricing, Pros, Cons and Alternatives
What Wiz charges per 100 cloud workloads on its public marketplace contracts, what each add-on covers, and the four cloud security platforms to price against it.
Wiz is worth it for a cloud team that needs agentless, graph-based risk context across several clouds and can carry a five or six figure contract. Wiz's own pricing page is a quote form, but its AWS Marketplace listing prints 12-month prices: Wiz Essential is $24,000 and Wiz Advanced $38,000, each for 100 cloud workloads, read on October 18, 2026.
The catch is that every capability is a separate unit. Runtime sensors, Wiz Code and Wiz Defend log ingestion are add-ons, so a 300-workload estate on Advanced with one block of sensors and one Defend unit lists at $160,000 a year by our arithmetic. Microsoft Defender for Cloud publishes far lower per-resource rates for a team that mostly runs on Azure.
Key factsBest for: Multi-cloud security teams that need agentless coverage and…
- The agentless cloud security platform to beat, priced in blocks of 100 workloads with every module sold separately.
- Wiz Essential: 100 workloads a year on AWS Marketplace
- Per workload: From $240 a year
- Free plan: None published
- Alternatives covered: Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Orca Security, CrowdStrike Falcon Cloud Security, Palo Alto Networks Cortex Cloud
Pros
- Connects through cloud APIs and deploys in minutes, so coverage does not depend on agent rollout.
- One security graph combines misconfigurations, vulnerabilities and identities to surface real attack paths.
- Public 12-month marketplace prices per 100 workloads make a first budget possible before a sales call.
Cons
- Sensors, Wiz Code and Defend are separate add-ons, so a full deployment on Advanced lists well above the base price.
- Workloads are sold in blocks of 100, which leaves a small estate paying for unused capacity.

Wiz scans a cloud estate through API connections, without agents, and maps misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, identities and exposure into one security graph. That design is why security teams shortlist it, and why the bill is hard to predict: Wiz sells capacity in blocks of workloads, sensors, developer licenses and log volume, and its website publishes none of those prices.
This review is for a security lead or CISO deciding whether Wiz justifies its price. It uses the contract prices Wiz itself lists on AWS Marketplace, which are public list prices for defined units, and treats them as a ceiling, since Wiz also sells through private offers. Every figure was read on October 18, 2026. Cyberpresso runs no test lab, so detection quality is left to your own proof of concept.
What is Wiz?
Wiz is a cloud security platform, the category usually called CNAPP (cloud-native application protection platform). It combines cloud security posture management, vulnerability and workload scanning, and attack path analysis across your cloud accounts, and connects through APIs rather than agents. The listing describes a 100% API approach that deploys in minutes and a single graph database that shows which issues, combined, pose the greatest risk.
Around that base sit three paid modules. Wiz Code scans code and pipelines before deployment, Wiz Defend detects threats from cloud audit logs and runtime signals, and the Wiz Runtime Sensor is a lightweight eBPF agent for Linux and Kubernetes that adds real-time detection on running workloads. The recent Wiz Red Agent and Snowflake story shows how far the company now pushes into offensive AI research.
Toolradar data: Wiz ranks joint 18th among the 513 Cloud and Infrastructure tools on Toolradar for how often other tools list it as an alternative, as of October 2026, per Wiz on Toolradar. Across the 725 security tools Toolradar tracks, 49% offer a free plan, per Toolradar's security statistics. Wiz is not one of them.
How Wiz works
Setup starts with connectors. Wiz reads your cloud accounts through their APIs, inventories every resource and scans workloads without installing anything, which is why deployment is fast compared with agent-first tools. The base license is sized by protected cloud workloads, sold in blocks of 100.
The base plan comes in two levels, Wiz Essential and Wiz Advanced. Add-ons attach to a specific base: the Wiz Sensor and Wiz Defend extend Wiz Advanced, and Wiz Code adds to Wiz Cloud. A team that wants runtime detection therefore buys Advanced first, then sensors, and each dimension is billed on its own line.
For smaller organizations Wiz also lists Wiz Go, a 36-month bundle with 300 Cloud Advanced workloads, 150 Defend ingestion units in GB, 100 runtime sensors and 50 Code active developers. It is the only published package that combines every module at one price.
Wiz key features
Wiz pricing
Wiz's pricing page asks for a quote and prints no price. Wiz's AWS Marketplace listing, read on October 18, 2026, lists five 12-month dimensions: the two base plans, Wiz Essential and Wiz Advanced, each protecting 100 cloud workloads at the prices in the table below, Wiz Sensor at $28,000 for 100 sensors, Wiz Code at $58,500 for 100 licenses, and Wiz Defend at $18,000 for 300 GB of log ingestion a month. The same listing says custom pricing is available through private offers, so a negotiated deal can land below these figures.
Per workload, Essential works out to $240 a year and Advanced to $380 a year, our division of the listed block prices. A 300-workload estate is $72,000 a year on Essential or $114,000 on Advanced. Add one block of sensors and one Defend unit to Advanced and the year reaches $160,000, before Wiz Code.
The Wiz Go listing prices the full bundle at $222,000 for 36 months, which averages $74,000 a year. That is less than the $114,000 a year that 300 Advanced workloads cost on their own, and it includes Defend, sensors and Code, so a small team that wants every module should price Go first. The trade-off is a three-year commitment.
For contrast, Microsoft's Defender for Cloud pricing page lists Defender CSPM at $5.11 per billable resource a month and Defender for Servers Plan 2 at $14.60 per server a month, with foundational CSPM free. The units differ from Wiz's, so compare on your own resource count rather than on the headline numbers.
| Plan | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Wiz Essential | $24,000 per 12 months | Base plan protecting 100 cloud workloads |
| Wiz Advanced | $38,000 per 12 months | Higher base plan for 100 workloads, required for Sensor and Defend add-ons |
| Wiz Sensor | $28,000 per 12 months | 100 runtime sensors, add-on for Wiz Advanced |
| Wiz Code | $58,500 per 12 months | 100 Wiz Code licenses, add-on for Wiz Cloud |
| Wiz Defend | $18,000 per 12 months | 300 GB of log ingestion a month, add-on for Wiz Advanced |
| Wiz Go | $222,000 per 36 months | 300 Advanced workloads, 150 Defend GB, 100 sensors, 50 Code developers |
| Private offer | Custom | Negotiated terms through Wiz sales or AWS Marketplace |
Wiz pros and cons
What we like
- Connects through cloud APIs and deploys in minutes, so coverage does not depend on agent rollout.
- One security graph combines misconfigurations, vulnerabilities and identities to surface real attack paths.
- Public 12-month marketplace prices per 100 workloads make a first budget possible before a sales call.
What could be better
- Sensors, Wiz Code and Defend are separate add-ons, so a full deployment on Advanced lists well above the base price.
- Workloads are sold in blocks of 100, which leaves a small estate paying for unused capacity.
Who Wiz is for
Wiz fits a mid-sized or large company running several clouds, with a security team that needs to prioritize thousands of findings and a budget that can absorb a contract in the tens of thousands of dollars at minimum. It also fits a team that wants posture management first and runtime detection later, since the modules can be bought in that order.
Skip Wiz if most of your estate is on Azure and Microsoft's per-resource pricing covers your posture needs, or if you have a few dozen workloads, where a 100-workload block is mostly unused capacity. The category is ranked in our best cloud security posture tools guide. If endpoint and cloud should share one vendor, read the CrowdStrike review and CrowdStrike Falcon pricing, and for vulnerability scanning on its own, see best vulnerability scanners and the Tenable review.
Best Wiz alternatives
If Wiz is not the right fit, these are the closest options.

The bottom line
Wiz is the reference cloud security platform, and its price matches that position. Its agentless graph is the reason to buy it, and its public marketplace prices let you build a first budget: $240 a year per workload on Essential, more on Advanced, and more again once sensors, Code and Defend are added. A small team that wants every module should price the Wiz Go bundle first.
Skip it if Azure is your main cloud and Microsoft's per-resource pricing covers your posture needs, or if your estate is too small to fill a 100-workload block. Run Orca or CrowdStrike in the same proof of concept if you want a second quote to negotiate with.
Methodology: prices come from Wiz's AWS Marketplace listing and the Wiz Go listing, which list 12-month and 36-month contract prices for defined units, and from Microsoft's Defender for Cloud pricing page, all read on October 18, 2026. Wiz's own site asks for a quote. Per-workload and estate totals are our division and multiplication of those listed prices, not quotes. Cyberpresso ran no product tests.
