Best XDR Platforms in 2026: Pricing, Pros and Cons for SOC Teams
Nine XDR platforms compared on what they publish, what they leave to a quote, and where each fits a SOC team.
Short answer: CrowdStrike Falcon is the strongest first shortlist for most SOC teams. It publishes three self-serve tiers at $59.99 to $184.99 per device a year, plus a 15-day trial with no card. If your company already pays for Microsoft 365 E5 at $60.00 per user a month, Microsoft Defender XDR comes inside that bill. Elastic Security suits teams that would rather pay for data volume, starting at $0.09 per GB ingested.
Most of the rest sell by quote. Palo Alto Cortex XDR, TrendAI Vision One, Sophos XDR, Rapid7 InsightIDR and Exabeam publish no list price on the pages we read, so their budget comes from a sales call. Price the scope you need, not the headline tier.

- 9 tools compared: CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne Singularity, Microsoft Defender XDR, Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR, TrendAI Vision One, Sophos XDR, Elastic Security, Rapid7 InsightIDR, Exabeam New-Scale
- SentinelOne Singularity (best for: Mid-sized teams that want a published per-endpoint price for two tiers before negotiating the top one): $179.99 per endpoint a year (Complete), $229.99 (Commercial); Enterprise by quote
- Microsoft Defender XDR (best for: Companies already on Microsoft 365 E5 that want identity, email and endpoint signals in one console): Not sold alone; included in Microsoft 365 E5 at $60.00 per user a month, paid yearly
- Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR (best for: Teams willing to run a demo and a scoped quote before setting a budget): Contact sales; the product page lists no price and offers a personal demo
Most XDR (extended detection and response) vendors now sell by quote, so the first price you see is rarely the price you pay.
We read the pricing or product page of nine XDR platforms, checked on vendor pages in October 2026 and quoted in US dollars.
How we ranked: we looked at four things a SOC lead can check on the vendor's own page.
Does the product cover more than endpoints? Can a buyer budget against a published price? Does a free trial let the team test first? Does the XDR need a SIEM on top?
We did not test any of these products, so this is a ranking of what vendors publish, not of detection performance.
Toolradar data: Toolradar's security monitoring ranking evaluates 25 tools, a wider set that includes compliance and network products.
The nine XDR-style platforms here are the cut that sells detection across more than one data source.

CrowdStrike Falcon
Three self-serve tiers with published annual prices and a trial that needs no card, so you can budget before you talk to sales.
- Pricing
- $59.99 to $184.99 per device a year (Go to Enterprise, annual); Complete and Next-Gen SIEM by quote
Best for: Endpoint-led SOCs that want published per-device prices and a 15-day trial before a sales call
Pros
- Go, Pro and Enterprise have published annual per-device prices, so the entry and top self-serve costs are visible before a call.
- A 15-day free trial with no credit card lets the SOC test on real devices before buying.
Cons
- Complete and Next-Gen SIEM are quote-only, and the pricing page does not say which tier includes Insight XDR.
- Billed monthly, Enterprise works out to $239.88 a device a year, so annual billing is the cheaper path.
SentinelOne Singularity
Two tiers priced per endpoint on the page, with an XDR row in the comparison table.
- Pricing
- $179.99 per endpoint a year (Complete), $229.99 (Commercial); Enterprise by quote
Best for: Mid-sized teams that want a published per-endpoint price for two tiers before negotiating the top one
Pros
- Complete and Commercial have published annual prices in US dollars for 5 to 100 workstations.
- The comparison table lists Extended Detection and Response as its own feature row.
Cons
- The page does not name the tier that includes XDR, so ask in writing before you budget for it.
- Enterprise is quote-only, and a partner's price governs if it differs from the list price.
Microsoft Defender XDR
XDR is a feature of the E5 suite, so the real purchase is the whole suite, not a security line item.
- Pricing
- Not sold alone; included in Microsoft 365 E5 at $60.00 per user a month, paid yearly
Best for: Companies already on Microsoft 365 E5 that want identity, email and endpoint signals in one console
Pros
- Microsoft's own page says Microsoft 365 E5 includes extended detection and response.
- If E5 is already paid for, the XDR adds no separate license line to the budget.
Cons
- Microsoft says Defender XDR is not a standalone offering, so a company outside E5 has no standalone price to compare.
- E5 comes to $720 a user a year before any SOC work starts.
Palo Alto Networks Cortex XDR
The product page names the XDR offer but gives no tiers or prices, so the cost comparison depends on a scoped quote.
- Pricing
- Contact sales; the product page lists no price and offers a personal demo
Best for: Teams willing to run a demo and a scoped quote before setting a budget
Pros
- A scoped quote prices the endpoints and modules you need, not a bundle you may not use.
- The product page is one clear entry point for Cortex XDR, without a split into tiers.
Cons
- No list price, trial or package list appears on the page, so budget work waits for a sales call.
- Without named packages, the page does not show which modules a quote will include.
TrendAI Vision One
One license covers Vision One solutions, with credits bought for a term and drawn down each month by actual use.
- Pricing
- Quote only: a credit-based license for Vision One solutions; the platform page shows no dollar price
Best for: Buyers who want one credit-based license across several security products and accept a quote-led budget
Pros
- One credit license covers several Vision One solutions, so spend can move between them.
- A free trial is offered on the platform page, so the SOC can test before the credit purchase.
Cons
- No dollar price, unit or term appears on the pages we read, so the annual cost depends on a credit quote.
- Credits are used by consumption each month, which makes the annual cost harder to predict than a per-device fee.
Sophos XDR
Sophos describes XDR as extending its EDR across the whole IT estate, but the pages we read show no price for that tier.
- Pricing
- No list price on the endpoint page; 30-day free trial of Sophos Endpoint; XDR by quote
Best for: Mid-sized teams that want XDR across the whole IT estate and may add a managed detection service later
Pros
- The vendor describes XDR as covering the whole IT ecosystem, not only endpoints.
- A 30-day trial of Sophos Endpoint lets the team test before any purchase conversation.
Cons
- The pages we read show no price for XDR, and buyers are sent to a How to buy page or AWS Marketplace.
- The pages do not spell out which features sit in XDR and which stay in EDR, so ask for the feature list before the trial.
Elastic Security
Priced on data volume rather than headcount, so a chatty log source costs more than a quiet one. Retention and egress are extra.
- Pricing
- From $0.09 per GB ingested a month (Essentials), $0.11 (Complete), billed on volume
Best for: Engineering-led SOCs that already run Elastic or want SIEM-first detection priced on data volume
Pros
- Per-GB prices are published for both tiers, and per-endpoint fees no longer apply as of 23 March 2026.
- Egress is free for the first 50 GB, then $0.05 per GB, which makes the monthly bill easy to model.
Cons
- The bill follows log volume, so a noisy source or a new integration raises it without any change in headcount.
- Retention and add-ons carry their own prices, so the headline rate is a floor, not the total.
Rapid7 InsightIDR
Three named packages on the product page, none priced, with a demo request as the next step.
- Pricing
- Contact sales; Essentials, Advanced and Ultimate packages listed without a price
Best for: SOC teams that want named packages and a demo before choosing a tier
Pros
- Three named packages make a like-for-like comparison easy once you have a quote.
- The product page links to a package comparison and a demo request, so the buying path is clear.
Cons
- No dollar price appears on the product page, so the budget needs a quote or a demo first.
- The product page gives one line per package, so the feature differences need the vendor's comparison page.
Exabeam New-Scale
A cloud platform with SIEM, analytics and an AI agent, plus self-hosted LogRhythm options, sold only after a demo or a contact request.
- Pricing
- Contact sales only; the pricing page shows no price, only demo and contact buttons
Best for: Teams that want behavior analytics on top of a SIEM and can run a longer sales cycle
Pros
- SIEM, analytics and an AI agent sit on one cloud platform, with self-hosted LogRhythm options for on-premises estates.
- New-Scale Analytics is on the cloud platform list, so behavior analysis is part of the offer.
Cons
- No list price or edition pricing appears on the page, so every comparison starts with a quote.
- Many named components (Fusion, SIEM, Analytics, Nova, NetMon) mean the scope of a quote needs careful definition.
What it is
XDR is a security platform that collects alerts from endpoints, identity, email, network and cloud accounts, then links them into one incident for an analyst. EDR covers the endpoint alone. Most XDR products start from an endpoint agent and add other sources on top, so the endpoint vendor often decides which platform you end up on.
For the endpoint-only view, see our EDR ranking.
Why it matters
An attack rarely stays on one laptop. A phishing email leads to a stolen login, the login leads to a cloud console, and an endpoint-only tool sees only one of those steps.
XDR earns its price when your analysts spend more time stitching alerts together than fixing what they found. If your team already runs a SIEM and a managed detection service, check whether an XDR duplicates them before you pay twice.
Our MDR services ranking covers the managed route. If a SIEM is the core of the decision instead, our SIEM ranking and incident response ranking cover those routes.
Key features to look for
Pricing
Prices were checked on vendor pages in October 2026, in US dollars. The scenario uses 100 endpoints on annual billing, with 100 users for Microsoft and 100 GB a day for Elastic. CrowdStrike's pricing page lists Go at $59.99, Pro at $99.99 and Enterprise at $184.99 per device a year.
At 100 devices that is $5,999, $9,999 and $18,499 a year. The same page lists monthly billing at $7.99, $14.99 and $19.99 a device, with Go capped at 100 devices on monthly terms. Enterprise on monthly billing comes to $239.88 a device a year ($19.99 times 12), so annual billing is the cheaper path.
For other endpoint vendors to compare with CrowdStrike, see our CrowdStrike alternatives ranking, and for the product itself, our CrowdStrike review.
SentinelOne's pricing page lists Complete at $179.99 and Commercial at $229.99 per endpoint a year, for 5 to 100 workstations.
At 100 endpoints that is $17,999 and $22,999 a year. Enterprise is quote-only.
Our SentinelOne review covers the product in more depth.
Microsoft's Defender XDR page lists Microsoft 365 E5 at $60.00 per user a month, paid yearly, and says Defender XDR is not a standalone offering.
For 100 users that is $72,000 a year ($60 times 12 times 100) for the whole suite, not for XDR alone.
Elastic's serverless security page lists ingest from $0.09 per GB on Essentials and $0.11 on Complete, billed monthly.
At 100 GB a day, that is 3,000 GB a month, or $270 a month and $3,240 a year, before retention and egress.
Elastic words its rate as "as low as", so treat the figure as a floor.
Palo Alto's Cortex XDR page, Trend's licensing page, Sophos's endpoint page, Rapid7's InsightIDR page and Exabeam's pricing page publish no list price for their XDR offers, so those rows say Contact sales.
For the endpoint-only price per device, see How Much Does EDR Cost in 2026?
| Plan | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| CrowdStrike Falcon Go | $59.99 per device a year | Entry tier; monthly billing is capped at 100 devices |

| Sophos XDR | Contact sales | 30-day trial of Sophos Endpoint; no XDR price on the page read |
| Elastic Security, Essentials | From $0.09 per GB ingested | Billed monthly on ingest; retention, egress and add-ons priced separately |
| Elastic Security, Complete | From $0.11 per GB ingested | Higher tier on the same volume basis |
| Rapid7 InsightIDR | Contact sales | Essentials, Advanced and Ultimate packages, with no prices on the product page |
| Exabeam New-Scale | Contact sales | Demo and contact form only; no package prices on the page |
The bottom line
For most SOC teams, CrowdStrike Falcon is the platform to shortlist first, because you can price it in an afternoon and test it before a sales call. If your company already pays for Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft Defender XDR is already inside the bill, so the question becomes whether the suite is worth it on its own.
Elastic Security suits an engineering team that wants to pay for data, not for devices.
Palo Alto Cortex XDR, TrendAI Vision One, Sophos XDR, Rapid7 InsightIDR and Exabeam need a scoped quote, so bring your endpoint count, your log volume and the modules you need to the call.
