Aura Review 2026
Plan prices, insurance limits and exclusions, and what the bundle leaves out, checked on Aura's pricing page in October 2026.
Aura is worth the money for one adult or a family that wants monitoring, insurance and antivirus on one bill, but its insurance does not pay for payments you authorize yourself. The Individual plan costs $12 a month billed annually ($144 a year), the Couple plan $22 a month and the Family plan $32 a month for five adults, billed annually as well. Prices were checked on Aura's pricing page on 10 October 2026.
The strongest part is the price per adult on the Family plan. The weak part is the fine print: transfers you approve yourself and legal fees above $125 an hour fall outside the cover. Read the exclusions before you treat the insurance as scam protection.

Aura sells identity monitoring, insurance and security tools for less than most of the big names in this category, and it bundles antivirus, a VPN and a password manager on top. This review asks whether that bundle is worth paying for, using only the prices and limits Aura publishes.
Two questions decide it.
The first is whether you need someone to handle the paperwork after a theft, which is the job the insurance and restoration help pay for. The second is whether you need cover for losses you cause yourself, such as a payment sent to a scammer.
Aura handles the first better than the second. Most of the value depends on how many adults you insure, so price the plan you actually need.
What is Aura?
Aura is an identity, fraud and device protection service for individuals and households. The Individual plan watches your three credit bureau files, sends alerts on financial transactions and dark web exposure, and removes your personal information from more than 425 data broker and people-search sites.
Each adult on an identity plan carries Aura's identity theft insurance, which the company says is underwritten and administered by American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida, an Assurant company.
The same plans include antivirus, a VPN and a password manager.
Family plans add child Social Security number monitoring, a child credit freeze and parental controls. A separate Kids plan at $10 a month billed annually covers parental controls and gaming alerts, and its listing names no adult identity insurance.
How Aura works
The 14-day free trial is the lowest-risk way to test Aura. Aura says the trial can be redeemed once per customer, and full access depends on identity verification and credit eligibility.
Compare the annual rate, not the monthly one: on the Individual plan, monthly billing costs $36 a year more.
Cancelling stops renewal, and Aura says your protection continues until the end of the term you have paid for.
The 60-day money-back guarantee covers annual plans bought on Aura's own sites or through its customer support team, and the window runs from the charge. Monthly plans, renewal payments and purchases billed through an app store or another retailer do not qualify.
Subscriptions bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play have to be cancelled there.
Check the renewal line at checkout and set a reminder before the trial ends, because the second-year price decides what the bundle really costs.
Aura key features
Aura pricing
Aura charges less per month when you pay for a year. The Individual plan is $144 a year billed annually and $180 a year billed monthly, a difference of $36. Annual billing is cheaper on every identity plan, and the gap is widest on the Family plan.
The Family plan's annual rate works out to $76.80 for each of its five adults, against $144 a year for one Individual plan.
Aura's own FAQ still quotes $39 a month for the family plan, while the pricing page shows $32. Confirm the figure at checkout before you compare it with a rival.
Neither page states the renewal price, which decides what the second year costs.
Cyberpresso data: our check of Aura's four-plan grid on its pricing page in October 2026 puts the Family plan at $6.40 a month for each adult, against $12 a month for an Individual plan.
Methodology: we read Aura's pricing, insurance and refund pages in October 2026 and compared the limits as published, in US dollars. We did not test the service.

Who Aura is for
Aura fits one adult who wants monitoring, insurance and security tools on one bill, and it fits a family better still. Five adults on the Family plan cost $384 a year, which is $76.80 each, the lowest per-adult rate on the page.
The family plan also adds child Social Security number monitoring and a child credit freeze, so decide which adults need insurance before you choose a tier.
Skip Aura if you only want alerts, or if your main worry is losing money to a scam you approve yourself.
Alerts do not stop a payment you approve, and that is exactly what the exclusions leave out. A password manager such as Bitwarden covers the password side on its own, and our password manager picks compare the options.

Antivirus on its own is a separate job, so check our free antivirus picks before you pay for a bundle's antivirus line.

The bottom line
Aura is worth the money for a single adult who wants three-bureau monitoring, insurance and security tools in one bill, and for a household that puts five adults on one Family plan.
It is not worth it as scam protection, because the insurance excludes payments you approve yourself, and it is not worth it if alerts are all you need.
Freeze your credit first, since Aura's Instant Credit Lock covers only the Experian file.
Then decide whether the bundle is worth the subscription. If it is, the Individual plan is mid-priced in this comparison, with three-bureau monitoring and one million dollars of insurance included, and the Family plan is the better value for a household.
Read the insurance exclusions before you rely on the one million dollars figure.
