Round by round
Price for one adult: LifeLock wins by $19.01 a year
LifeLock Core is the cheapest identity plan in this comparison, at $124.99 a year on annual billing. Aura Individual is $144. Aura is $55.99 cheaper than LifeLock Advanced, the nearest LifeLock plan with three bureaus, which costs $199.99 a year. If you compare only the entry price, LifeLock takes this round.
Credit bureaus on the entry plan: Aura wins
Aura Individual watches three bureaus. LifeLock Core watches two, and LifeLock needs its $199.99 Advanced plan to reach three. A plan that watches two bureaus can miss an account opened at the third, so this round matters more than the $19.01 gap for most buyers.
Insurance cap: LifeLock wins
LifeLock's identity cover runs from up to $1.05M per covered adult on Core, to up to $1.2M on Advanced and up to $3M on Total. Aura's cover is $1M per adult, $2M on the Couple plan and $5M on the Family plan, which covers five adults. LifeLock also states a stolen-funds limit at each tier: $25K on Core, $100K on Advanced, and the largest here on Total.
Bundled device security: Aura wins
Aura's Individual plan includes antivirus, a VPN and a password manager, so one bill covers identity monitoring and device protection. LifeLock's identity plans list none of those features. On its pricing page, LifeLock sells device security only in its Norton 360 with LifeLock bundles. Select covers 5 family PCs, Macs, smartphones and tablets, with one bureau monitored. Ultimate Plus covers unlimited devices and three bureaus, at a higher price after year one.
Cost per covered adult: Aura wins from three adults, LifeLock from two
Aura Family costs $384 a year for five adults and unlimited kids, which works out to $76.80 per adult. LifeLock Core's family plan costs $344.99 for two adults and up to 10 kids, or $172.50 per adult. For a third adult on LifeLock, you would need a separate plan: Core family plus Core for one adult comes to $469.98 a year, against $384 for Aura Family.
For two adults, LifeLock Core couple at $224.99 is $39.01 less than Aura Couple at $264, or $112.50 per adult against $132. LifeLock wins couples on price, and Aura wins once the household has three or more adults.
Trial and refund terms: LifeLock wins on trial length
Aura gives 14 days free on its Individual plan, and a 60-day money-back guarantee on annual plans bought direct. LifeLock's pricing FAQ says any plan comes with a 30-day free trial, and its annual plans carry the same 60-day money-back guarantee. The refund windows match, so LifeLock wins this round on trial length. Read the trial terms before you enter a card.
Scorecard
| Round | Winner | The number that decides it |
|---|---|---|
| Price, one adult | LifeLock | $19.01 a year less for Core than Aura Individual |
| Bureaus on the entry plan | Aura | 3 vs 2 |
| Insurance cap | LifeLock | Total is the highest per-adult cap, Aura the lowest |
| Bundled device security | Aura | Included on Individual vs not listed |
| Cost per covered adult | Aura from 3 adults, LifeLock for couples | $76.80 vs $172.50 for family plans |
| Trial length | LifeLock | 30 days (its FAQ) vs 14 days (Individual) |
The split is three rounds each. Aura takes the rounds that protect the most people for the money: bureau count, bundled security and cost per adult. LifeLock takes the headline cap, the entry price for one adult and the trial length. For most households, the first group matters more.
Strengths and weaknesses
Aura
- Strength: three-bureau monitoring on the Individual plan, which also includes antivirus, a VPN and a password manager.
- Strength: the lowest cost per covered adult in this set, at $76.80 on the five-adult Family plan.
- Weakness: $1M per adult is the lowest per-adult cap here, against $1.2M on LifeLock Advanced and $3M on Total.
- Weakness: the pricing page gives no stolen-funds limit and no renewal price, so check both in the checkout terms.
- Weakness: device limits apply, with 10 devices on Individual and 20 on Couple.
LifeLock
- Strength: the highest caps, with Total reaching up to $3M per adult and the largest stolen-funds limit here.
- Strength: its FAQ offers a 30-day free trial on any plan, longer than Aura's 14 days.
- Weakness: Core, the plan most buyers see first, watches two bureaus and caps stolen funds at $25K.
- Weakness: the identity plans list no antivirus or VPN, and the Norton 360 bundles that add device security cost more after year one.
- Weakness: family plans cover two adults, against five on Aura's Family plan.
Who should pick which
- Aura if you are a family of three to five adults, want three bureaus on every plan, or want device security on the same bill as identity monitoring.
- LifeLock Core if you are one or two adults, want the lowest identity-plan price, and can accept two bureaus and a $25K stolen-funds limit.
- LifeLock Advanced or Total if the per-adult cap matters more than price.
Gotchas that change the real price
- The Norton bundle renewal. Norton 360 with LifeLock Select advertises $8.33 a month, but that is the first-year price on $99.99. It renews at $159.99 a year, which is $60 more, and it covers one bureau. Ultimate Plus moves from $299.99 to $364.99 a year, which is $65 more.
- Aura's savings badges. Aura labels its annual plans 50, 54 and 60 percent off. Measured against Aura's own monthly prices, the saving is 20 percent on Individual ($36 a year), 24 percent on Couple ($84) and 36 percent on Family ($216). Compare the annual totals, not the badge.
- Older prices online. Some comparison pages still list Aura's Couple plan at $20 a month and its Family plan at $30 a month. The pricing page reads $22 and $32 billed annually, so check the live price before you sign up.
- LifeLock's renewal. Core, Advanced and Total renew at the same annual price the page prints, so the first-year figure in the table is also the renewal figure.
How we priced this
Verified on each vendor's own pricing page in October 2026. We read the plan prices on October 10, 2026: Aura pricing and LifeLock pricing. Figures are in US dollars. Annual figures are the yearly price each page prints, and monthly totals are the monthly price times 12. Coverage numbers are the limits each vendor states. We did not read the insurance policies, so the policy terms govern any claim.
Our analysis: cost per covered adult, computed from the annual price divided by the adults each plan covers, with kids left out of the count. Aura Family $76.80. Aura Couple $132. Aura Individual $144. LifeLock Core family $172.50. LifeLock Core couple $112.50.
